Mission Statement

Old Town Hot Springs is the non-profit center for health and wellness, providing recreation and education in aquatics and fitness for our members, guests, and community.

History

Old Town Hot Springs is an historic hot spring and family-friendly recreational facility in the heart of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We have been a location for recreation and rejuvenation in this community since its beginnings. The hot mineral spring pools have been here in one form or another for over 100 years. The Ute Indians who first settled the area knew them as “medicine” springs, frequenting them for sacred physical and spiritual healing. Later the pools were likely a gathering and bathing place for the first homesteaders. We are lucky to have the famous Heart Spring, the source of all the healing mineral water in our eight pools. It pumps approximately 220 gallons per minute and comes out of the ground like an artesian well, thus naturally without the use of man-made pumps. The water then runs into an overflow system filling each of the pools on the property.

As an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is not tax-supported like so many other community recreation and fitness facilities, Old Town Hot Springs is focused on meeting the health and wellness needs of Steamboat Springs and surrounding towns in Routt County. We have grown and improved over the years into a multi-use complex, offering recreational and educational opportunities in water and fitness for all ages.

In addition to our hot soaking pools, our amenities include eight lap lanes, an aquatic climbing wall, two tennis courts, massage therapy, childcare, and a fitness center with classes, cardio equipment, and a weight room. In the spirit of Steamboat Springs’ recreation and relaxation needs, in 2007 we made improvements that included two new 225-foot waterslides, a 3,000 square foot hot activity pool. Old Town Hot Springs continues to grow and improve to meet the needs of this community and to serve our mission.

Touting a combination of local history with first-class amenities, Old Town Hot Springs should be on every visitor's to-do list when in Steamboat Springs. It is open year-round, seven days a week.
